In 1877, Julius Baier and Andreas Schneider founded their stationery business in Heilbronn, Germany. Calling their firm ‘Brunnen’ in 1903, they continued to grow in strength so that some time later the business employed some 500 people. During World War II the premises of Baier & Schneider were totally destroyed so that a completely new start had to be made after it was over. Today, 850 employees at the firm can look back in pride over 128 years of history.

1877 – 1903 THE WELL (GER. 'BRUNNEN') SITUATED NEAR THE CHURCH IN HEILBRONN.
The brand name 'BRUNNEN' is officially entered together with an 'H' for Heilbronn on 6th January 1903. However, the history of Baier & Schneider at their premises near the church began in 1877.

1904 – 1945 EXPANSION AND DESTRUCTION
Even by 1904, the generously planned premises of the Baier & Schneider building in Wollhausstrasse were beginning to burst at the seams, and within only 96 days fifty construction workers managed to put up the walls and roof of what was to be the 'new building'.

1946 – 2001 GERMANY'S ECONOMIC BOOM AND THE HUNGER FOR PAPER
After the war, the firm made a new start with about 20 employees in a private house belonging to the Schneider family and also in a gymnasium outside the ruins of Heilbronn city.
